spiral band

Spiral-shaped radar echoes received from precipitation areas within intense tropical cyclones (hurricanes or typhoons); they curve cyclonically in toward the center of the storm and appear to merge to form the wall around the eye of the storm. Also known as hurricane band; hurricane radar band.
