Pyrolusite

Pyrolusite has the formulae MnO2 and a relative hardness of 3. It is the major ore of manganese which is used in the manufacture of steel. Pyrolusite is formed when manganese is dissolved out of crystalline rocks and then redeposited in dentrites etc.
