The general stratum of the upper atmosphere in which there is an appreciable ozone concentration and in which ozone plays an important part in the radiative balance of the atmosphere; lies roughly between 6 and 30 miles (10 and 50 kilometers), with maximum ozone concentration at about 12 to 15 miles (20 to 25 kilometers).
