1. A complete or partial disturbance of an isolated radioactive system by thermal, igneous, or tectonic activities which results in loss or gain of radioactive or radiogenic isotopes and, hence, a change in the radiometric age that will be given the disturbed system. 2. The development or superposition of metamorphic structures on original structures. Also known as imprint; metamorphic overprint; superprint.
