Normal Fault

A fault with vertical movement and an inclined fault plane. The block above the fault has moved down relative to the block below the fault. A fault, usually of 45-90ΓΈ, in which the hanging wall appears to have shifted downward in relation to the footwall. Also known as gravity fault; normal slip fault; slump fault.
