1. An eastward-propagating internal gravity wave that crosses the Pacific Ocean along the equator and has no north-south velocity component. 2. A type of wave progression in relatively confined water bodies where, because of Coriolis force, the wave is higher to the right of direction of advance (in the Northern Hemisphere).
