ice fringe

1. An ice deposit on plant surfaces, not of hoarfrost from atmospheric water vapor, but of moisture exuded from the stems of plants and appearing as frosted fringes or ribbons. Also known as ice ribbon. 2. A belt of sea ice extending a short distance from the shore.
