high foehn

The occurrence of warm, dry air above the level of the general surface, accompanied by clear skies, resembling foehn conditions; it is due to subsiding air in an anticyclone, above a cold surface layer; in such circumstances the mountain peaks may be warmer than the lowlands. Also known as free foehn.
