Harmotome

Harmotome is a hydrous silicate of alumina and baryta, occurring usually in white cruciform crystals; cross- stone. It has the formulae (Ba,K)(Al, Si) 2Si6016Ü6H20 and a relative hardness of 5. It occurs mostly in volcanic rocks, especially basalt. A related mineral, called lime harmotome, and Phillipsite, contains lime in place of baryta.
