Glauconite is a mineral of marine origin and found in sedimentary deposits of various kinds. It is the green mineral characteristic of the greensand of the chalk and other formations. It is similar to a mineral called celadonite, it is used in the textile, sugar, and brewing industries; as a colouring agent and in the manufacture of fertilizers.
