foehn nose

As seen on a synoptic surface chart, a typical deformation of the isobars in connection with a well-developed foehn situation; a ridge of high pressure is produced on the windward slopes of the mountain range, while a foehn trough forms on the lee side; the isobars “bulge” correspondingly, giving a noselike configuration.
