Biotite

Biotite, named after the naturalist Biot, is a widely distributed rock forming mineral and occurs in igneous and metamorphic rocks and is a common member of the mica group. It has the formulae K(MgFe) 2(Al,Fe)Si3O10(OH, F) 2 and a relative hardness of 3.
