Atacamite

Atacamite is the native hydrous oxychloride of copper. It is a comparatively rare mineral occuring in arid regions in the upper oxidised zone of copper deposits. It has the formulae Cu2Cl(OH)3 and a relative hardness of 4. It is named after the desert of Atacama, where it is found.
