Acidic Rock

An igneous rock that has a relatively high silica content. The term acidic rock refers to an igneous rock that consists mostly of light coloured minerals and has more than 66% free or combined silica. Examples are granite and rhyolite. Also see entries for basic, intermediate and ultrabasic rocks.
